Partial Vacuum
Partial Vacuum
Science Background:
· The covered flames go out because the trapped air is used up
· The fire warms the trapped air causing it to expand and be pushed out of the jar
· When the fire goes out the air cools which causes the trapped air to contract creating a partial vacuum in the jar
· The jar and the container are forced together allowing you to lift the whole system.
