“Mysteries of Vernacular” Etymology Video

This activity/assessment, in the “Our Shared Linguistic and Cultural Roots” uses the TED Ed “Mysteries of Vernacular” series as a model to determine the etymology of different words. Students view a number of videos to learn the etymology of various words; they also view to understand the text features and presentation style of the videos. Their task is to create their own “Mysteries of Vernacular” video about a word not already featured on the website.
