Setting Up Your YouTube Channel
Setting Up Your YouTube Channel
****Please note that I used my laptop and not an iPad to set this up so the display might be different on an iPad*** I used this video to teach myself and then I've broken it down for you below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y04ityB5f9k
- Sign up for a gmail account. You will need to use this to login to YouTube.
- Go to www.youtube.com
- Sign in using your gmail account
- Click on your Name Icon. For me it’s a brown circle with E in it.
You will see a screen like this
Click on "Your channel" then it will take you to the following screen
Click on "Customize Channel". It will take you to a screen like this.
Using the photo above for reference, you can change your profile picture. Follow the prompts to change your profile picture if you like. It may take a while to display, so don't panic. Click Add Channel Art and follow the prompts if you'd like there to be a photo banner for your YouTube Channel. YouTube has options for you to use or you can upload your own (max 6 MB). You can create your own if you like and there are YouTube videos on how to do this. Click on the gear icon so you can change your basic settings for the YouTube channel.
- Once you click on the gear icon as circled above, you should have the following pop up:
I left all of the privacy settings to Private.
- Click the "Show discussions tab" and choose the following:
Click save at the bottom of that window.
- Now you can upload a video by clicking on the video camera icon and choosing "upload video".
- Then this screen will show up and you would click on "Select File" to choose a video from your computer or iPad.
Once I uploaded my video, it brought me to this screen:
On the screen above, you can add a video title and add details or a description.
- Scroll down so you can see the following screen and choose the option where it asks if the video was made for kids
Click on "Next"
- I did not add any video elements, so I clicked Next.
- Then I chose the Unlisted setting as shown below:
Click "Save"
- Then click on the ellipses to get a shareable link as shown below:
Once you click on the "Get Sharable Link", it will download the link to your computer or device's clipboard.
- I opened up my seesaw and then added it to my student's learning journal for them to click on to see the video.
