Hashtag Character Lesson for Any Trait

This is a great group activity to get kids thinking about character.  I have mostly done it with SECRET Skills, but you can use it for 7 Cs or any character trait you want to explore!

Put the kids into groups and have them discuss the trait, you may want to discuss it as a group first or watch a short intro video on the trait.  http://www.letitripple.org/ has a ton you can watch!

Then as the students (either all on the same trait or assign them different ones) to come up with hashtags that match that trait!

This is super fun and the engagement is really high.

You can then have the kids make colourful hastags and organize them by trait around the room!  Classroom decorating and character all in one.  

This lesson will work with any other concept in a content area as well.  I used to do this for Math with my students.  E.g., for learning to multiply fractions some examples were #reducefirst #bottomsdon'tmatter #lookacross #crossreduce etc
