This site offers a collection of some of the best translation apps to help you effectively communicate in foreign language situations. Most apps are available for Apple or Android devices and offer voice and text translation.

A big name in free online translation websites is Bing, which uses Microsoft Translator. You can select your input language or have the site automatically detect it as you type. If you have your microphone enabled, you can speak the text you want to be translated, which seems quite convenient if you ask us.
After you receive the translation, you have options to hear it aloud in a male or female voice, share it, or search Bing with it. Moreover, you can also give the translation a thumbs-up or thumbs-down if you would like to provide a little feedback. The free translator offers over 60 languages.

A Consequence Map is a graphic organizer that requires students to think about the potential long-term impacts of a real or imaginary event, issue, problem, trend, or developing technology. Consequence mapping encourages deeper thinking about interrelationships and cause and effect.
Why use it?
- To have students think about the potential consequences, both intended and unintended, of an event, action, issue, problem, trend, or developing technology
- To develop systems thinking and critical thinking skills
- To help students identify and understand cause and effect relationships
This Module outlines Collaborative Strategic Reading (CSR), a strategy for helping students to improve their reading comprehension skills. In CSR, students work together in small groups to apply comprehension strategies as they read text from a content area, such as social studies or science (est. completion time: 1 hour).
The Can Do Kids website is full of ready-made resources to support teachers and learners in their study of orthography.
You have to sign up for an account, then can download free resources, including beautiful posters, that are connected to picture books supporting a variety of orthographic lessons. Please note, some items have a cost, but there are still many free resources on this site.
If you use the Collins Dictionary website for looking up definitions or synonyms, then take a look at the translator. You can input text and translate it to and from over 60 languages.
While this translator has minimal features, the translations come from Microsoft and there is a convenient copy button for the text you receive. If you are in the market for a basic translator on a site with a dictionary, thesaurus, and grammar tools, Collins Dictionary is the one for you.
CommonLit has a FREE collection of hundreds of short stories, poems, historical documents, and more for students in grades 5-12. The texts selections include fiction and non-fiction. The collection can be searched and filtered by lexile, grade, theme, genre, book pairings, literary device and units (a new feature).
A Consensus Mat is a group discussion strategy that gives each student in a group an opportunity to record his/her responses, ideas, information or points of view. Students share and discuss these ideas and as a group produce a collective, agreed-upon response (consensus).

- To give students opportunity to consider different points of view

The DeepL Translator is a really cool tool that comes with its own definitions and automatic sentence completion options. You can choose from 26 languages and when you receive the translation, just double-click on a word for more details.
When you select that word in the translation, you will see a dropdown box with more options. You can also take a look at the word definition that pops up at the bottom of the page at the same time. Plus, you will see examples of the word being used in both the input and output languages. This is a great feature to have if you are trying to learn the language you are translating into.
Resources and documents
Dialog is a good translation app that offers both voice and text translations. Dialog includes a number of interesting features such as a keyboard with built-in translator, use camera to translate texts in pictures, access translations in offline mode, support for 100 languages, automatic language detection, and more.
