School Community Council Chairs

The School Community Councils (SCC) function to assist the administration of the school and the Board in: ● Developing shared responsibility for the learning success and well-being of all children and youth; ● Encouraging and facilitating parent, community and youth engagement in school planning and improvement processes; ● Delivering educational and extra-curricular programs; and ● Providing the school and division with a critical link to facilitate understanding of the community. This is a group for SCC members and their chairs to share information and collaborate.

We've struggled with this a bit at Westcliffe but have been trying our best. We have been trying to post more on social media but could use some new ideas for interaction during the pandemic :)

We are struggling with this in Davidson as well. We are using our Facebook site; however, not all families have facebook so there are people we are missing. We are hoping in April we can set up a Goose Chase (scanveger hunt) for grades 7-12, around town, for the kids. Our hope is this will allow them to work in cohort groups, get some fresh air and give them something to be apart of.

A scavenger hunt is a good idea! ya we are still struggling like yousay not everyone is on Facebook, weve chatted about maybe adding a monthly newsletter into mailboxes but its hard "getting out there" especially during COVID.
