Purpose

In this course you will learn how to effectively and efficiently organize, plan, and execute the projects you need to do in your courses and your life, both individually and in groups.


Course Overview

Learning for students today involves project based learning, and/or group project work.  More and more, students are asked to direct and manage their own learning, which can be a tall order if they aren't equipped with the proper tools to manage the projects required in that learning.

21st Century Competencies (21CC)

The 21st Century Competencies are the skills needed to be successful in all day-to-day activities as well as future career opportunities. Integration of 21st Century Competencies in all day-to-day activities supports the development of routine reflection, skill use, and growth in support of our learning.  There are seven 21st Century Skills.

Character refers to the work habits of the student, and their ability to organize material and time in order to be effective, independent and dependable learners.  Character includes being organized, embodying grit, self-regulating behaviours, and setting challenges.

Collaboration includes cooperating, building team strengths, evaluating the team, and finding solutions, and demonstrating confidence, courage and commitment in contributing to the community.  The ability to work effectively with others has become a critically important skill for career and life success.  

Communication competence involves mediated and digital communication, interpersonal, written, and oral communication. Communication includes sharing learning, persuading others, being clear, and inviting feedback.  It is part of the student possessing a positive sense of identity, and appreciating the diverse beliefs, languages and practices of others.

Creativity is closely connected to lifelong learning, and is marked by students who are curious, observant, and reflective.  Creativity includes generating original ideas, making connections, elaborating or transforming, and taking risks in innovation. 

Critical Thinking is closely connected to lifelong learning, and is marked by students who are curious, observant, and reflective.  Critical thinking includes identifying issues, finding evidence, reaching conclusions, and evaluating evidence.

Cultural & Ethical Citizenship is marked by students who are engaged citizens who demonstrate confidence, courage and commitment in contributing to the community.  Cultural & Ethical Citizenship includes getting involved, staying objective, using the Pan-do-Review process, and being responsible.

Computer & Digital Technologies is marked by students possessing a positive sense of identity, and appreciating the diverse beliefs, languages and practices of others. includes creating a digital identity, embodying positive, safe & ethical digital behaviours, using digital rights & responsibilities, and digital privacy.
