Did you know that Canada is the world's largest producer and exporter of wild blueberries?
Each year, we produce 200 million pounds of the fruit, 80 million of which come from the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean region of Quebec. It's the biggest wild blueberry farm in Canada — maybe even the biggest worldwide. Companies like Quebec Wild Blueberries mechanically harvest, wash and package the antioxidant-rich berry, before shipping them to over 30 countries.

You may be surprised to discover you are dependent on many countries for your favourite items.Students will learn about international trade and how closely it impacts every Canadian. Activities include basic language and concepts of trade including terms such as "import" and "export", the purpose and function of international trade, Canada's major imports and exports, thinking about trade benefits and potential ethical concerns regarding international trade.
