Summer 2024 Musts!

Summer is a perfect time to keep the joy of learning alive with a collection of resources designed to make education fun, interactive, and engaging for students and parents alike. Our curated selection includes a variety of tools and activities that cater to different interests and age groups, ensuring a well-rounded and enjoyable learning experience throughout the summer months.

Setting a schedule or routine for summer including academic time can be very helpful for families and avoid any arguments about doing some work (even though it is fun!).  Ck-12 Foundation educational expert Neeru Khosola offers some advice additional for parents in this quick interview about summer learning.  

Literacy: summer reading packages, online stories, phonemic awareness lessons for home, Time magazine for kids

Science & STEM: hands-on science ideas, virtual dissection, live animal cameras, high school boot camps, STEM at home, learn to make anything (Instructables)

Math: High school boot camps, mini math courses to prepare for the year ahead, mental math

Coding: coding activities for all ages and levels

Creativity: art classes, fun drawing game, learn how to make anything (Instructables)

Multi-Subject – Live & recorded events, Khan Academy & Khan Kids – you can learn pretty much any topic related to school on these platforms, find resources (newspapers, magazines, research databases and more) at the Ministry of Education

Mindfulness & Wellness: wellness app for the whole family, happiness calendar

Game-Based Learning: practice skills and feed the hungry, learn to type/keyboard
