These dates commemorate the anniversaries of Gord Downie’s and Chanie Wenjack’s entering the spirit world. Chanie, just 12 years old, tragically passed away after fleeing Cecilia Jeffrey Residential School and walking along the train tracks for 36 hours on October 22. His story, remembered through Gord Downie’s album Secret Path, continues to resonate and remind us of the importance of reconciliation.
