In this lesson students will address the indicator in which they will guided to "create biographic profiles of a selection of Saskatchewan First Nations and Metis leaders in the time period prior to Saskatchewan joining Confederation." They will view a ROVER episode in which they are guided to make jot notes. From their jot notes they will write a descriptive paragraph (biographic profile) about Whitecap.

The accompanying PowerPoint is a collection of illustrations that follows the storybook The Flower Beadwork People. The illustrations can be shown on the SmartBoard while the teacher read the storybook aloud.

This document shows illustrations of the structure of the federal government of Canada (legislative, executive, and judicial), the federal and provincial structure of government, as well as the symbols of Saskatchewan.

In this unit of study, students will be asked to complete a performance task (create a brochure) in which they design a country that will provide a productive and positive place for people to live. They will develop a constitution for the country that they created.

In this activity, students are to choose an area within our Atlantic Region to research to find information and create a brochure.

Grasshopper is designed for individual learning rather than classroom implementation, so there's no dashboard or central place to monitor student progress. This makes it better suited for students to learn and practice at their own pace with teacher support. Teachers with some coding experience can advise and coach students as they encounter complex problems, while teachers without much coding experience can encourage students to work collaboratively and/or use the available help in the app. For classes using unplugged activities to teach coding concepts, Grasshopper is a great way to let students start putting that knowledge to use on an individualized basis.
