This resource contains all relevant information about the INTERIM Benchmark Assessment Plan for the SaskDLC.This plan was compiled by the Sask DLC Interim Benchmark Assessment Advisory Team. Please download the document in section 1 for the detailed plan. 

Give a 5 question mixed review quiz to students every Friday.The questions can focus on current learning, but should also include questions from the entire year (especially concepts needed for next week's lessons, or foundational items that need to be mastered). This strategy will help develop mastery, provide opportunities for mixed practice to ensure comprehension beyond specific learning content.

Basic Concepts of Math from The Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools was created as a numeracy diagnostic to assess the Saskatchewan Math curriculum. This assessment provides a snapshot of student performance., and it is intended to give an indication of grade level outcome achievement in math. This information can be used to inform your instruction and help meet your students' needs.  Sask DLC teachers proceed to section 2 for interim materials.  

This resource is a "cheat sheet" of the math learning continuum based upon the work by Michael Battista. His work is designed to work with any curriculum, Cognition-Based Assessment and Teaching will enable you to better understand and respond to your students’ learning needs and help you choose instructional activities that are best for them. These cheat sheets show the task analysis. In his books, Battista provides assessment tasks and suggestions for teaching a skill.

The main areas of focus in the second grade math curriculum are: understanding the base-ten system within 1,000, including place value and skip-counting in fives, tens, and hundreds; developing fluency with addition and subtraction, including solving word problems; regrouping in addition and subtraction; describing and analyzing shapes; using and understanding standard units of measure; working with money and time; and introducing multiplication.
