Adolescent Reading Intervention Evaluation Guidelines (Grades 4-12)
Rating
0.0 stars

"Use these guidelines to evaluate how well secondary intervention materials align with the findings from the science of reading.

Interventions for older students are either comprehensive or designed to target specific skills where students need support.

These guidelines detail components of a comprehensive intervention. They are not meant to negate interventions that target specific skills.

These guidelines are not intended for interventions developed for students who have intensive needs that require more specialized interventions."

Beginning Reading Instruction
Rating

Beginning Reading Instruction (BRI)/Advanced Reading Instruction (ARI) is a highly researched, and simple reading program that helps children learn to decode.

A teaching guide, along with the three sets of books, and the booster set (extra practice) are all you need to begin teaching a child to read. Additional materials, such as tests to make sure a child has mastered the skills after they complete each set, and ways to keep track of progress are included.

Each book set offers a drop down menu featuring the book, suggestions for looking through and discussing the book and story questions.

The Language Literacy Network - Framework
Rating

The Language Literacy Network (Wasowicz, 2021; 2024) highlights how spoken and written language processes work together to support reading and writing.

Based on 30+ years of research, it focuses on key areas like reading comprehension, writing, and word-level decoding.

Building on Dr. Hollis Scarborough’s Reading Rope model, it updates and expands the original framework to reflect recent findings, emphasizing the link between decoding, spelling, and the reciprocal nature of reading and writing.
