Enhancing French skills is a website for intermediate learners of French. It includes authentic language videos from French websites, as well as interviews of French speakers on cultural topics. Videos and activities are organized into five broad themes and tagged by communicative language function with links into Tex’s French Grammar for specific grammar explanations and interactive exercises. This is a core French unit developed for grades 4 and 5 that studies the Festival du Voyageur and discusses other French festivals across Canada.
Students have an opportunity to learn about the voyageurs and their travels. Students will discover the leisure activities, food and clothing of the voyageurs. They will visit the website of the Festival du Voyageur that is held each year in Saint-Boniface, Manitoba. For the experiential goal, students will create and organize a “voyageur” afternoon including a brochure or poster and an oral presentation. The teacher’s guide includes learning objectives, a list of resources and step-by-step suggestions on how to teach the unit.

Join spoken word poet Janelle “ecoaborijanelle” Pewapsconias. Using flow poetry, you and your students will explore our Saskatchewan watersheds and water systems as a topic of focus for poetic expression and scientific inquiry.
