Help the Guinard family struggle to make ends meet and get ahead in their poverty-stricken homeland, Haiti. In this sometimes tragic and always challenging simulation game, you help the parents, Jean and Marie, and their children, Patrick, Jacqueline, and Yves, make decisions about work, education, community building, personal purchases, and health care that might brighten their future. Includes lesson plans for teachers.

Our project was to have our students compare birthday celebrations in other countries with those of their own. Students learned about birthdays in 3 other countries and then planned and carried out birthday parties that they hosted and attended. The parties were recorded on ipads. At the end they had to self-assess their role. The outcomes were for the students to be able to tell about traditions and celebrations in their families along with their classmates' and to be able to tell how families around the world are similar and different.

A little understanding can go a long way. After learning about difficulties that Palestinian youths face, students will write a letter to an official discussing these issues.

Social injustice occurs every day all over the world. In this lesson, students research a few historical examples of social injustice, including the Holocaust, the Trail of Tears, and Japanese internment.

Students present monologues in the "voice" of someone involved in child labor in England, respond to questions, and then discuss contemporary child laborers and compare them to the past.

Journey 2050 allows schools around the world to experience agriculture like it has never been taught before. As students explore world food sustainability, they make inquiry-based decisions to see the ripple effect on social, economic and environmental factors locally and globally. Agricultural experts and real farm families from Kenya, India and Canada guide students through a virtual farm simulation, avatar career game and geography scavenger hunt.
