Looking for an alternative to the traditional mad minute? These files involve either the SMART Board or an overhead projector.
These SMART Board files are a fun way for you and your students to interact while practicing adding and subtracting skills.
This fun twist on the popular game of Tic-Tac-Toe has students using their calculator skills. The game board could easily be adapted according to skill level and mathematical operation.
Directions for this age old strategy game that gets your students thinking creatively and critically:
With your friend(s) take turns making line segments to connect the dots. When you can complete a square, put your initial inside it. The winner is the person with the most initialed squares.

Your mission is to plan a 1 week adventure holiday for 12 math students anywhere in Saskatchewan. At the end of the project, you will have a chance to “sell” your adventure holiday to other students and hope they choose yours! You have $2500 a person.
Math Learning Goals:
· Add, subtract, multiply and divide decimals (N7.2)
· Compare and order fractions, decimals and mixed numbers (N7.3)
· Convert between fractions and terminating/repeating decimals (N7.3)
· Solve problems involving fractions, decimals and percents (N7.3, N7.4)
· Adding and Subtracting Integers (N7.6)
· Developing and Evaluating Expressions (P7.1, P7.2)
Number Talks are a very valuable tool to use in engaging students in talking and learning about math and math concepts.
Outcome FP10.2 – Demonstrate an understanding of irrational numbers in both radical (including mixed radical) and exponent forms through: representing: identifying: simplifying: ordering: relating to rational numbers: applying exponent laws.
PART 1:
In groups of 5-6, create a project to demonstrate mastery of the above outcome. You may create a poster, PowerPoint, prezi, video, etc… if you have another idea, ask your teacher for approval. Create your project as if you are teaching this outcome to another student – what would they need to know and what examples would be useful?
