In this activity, students use the binary number system to transmit messages. Two flashlights are used to demonstrate how astronomy spacecraft to transmit images and other scientific data to Earth. Free code camp is a great website for online learning. The site lets you learn to code with free online courses, programming projects, and interview preparation for developer jobs.

AppGameKit's Education Pack includes everything a teacher or lecturer needs to teach coding skills and is an easy to use tool that can be deployed quickly and easily in the classroom.

AppGameKit works across a range of abilities so is suitable for primary and secondary schools, sixth form colleges, universities and summer camps.

Teachers will need to register to get a free kit and get started.

Grasshopper is designed for individual learning rather than classroom implementation, so there's no dashboard or central place to monitor student progress. This makes it better suited for students to learn and practice at their own pace with teacher support. Teachers with some coding experience can advise and coach students as they encounter complex problems, while teachers without much coding experience can encourage students to work collaboratively and/or use the available help in the app. For classes using unplugged activities to teach coding concepts, Grasshopper is a great way to let students start putting that knowledge to use on an individualized basis.
