The way this assignment is formatted, it is meant to be outside measuring inaccessibly tall. The students already had a very good understanding of the primary trig ratios and how to use them, as they had already taken Foundations and Pre-Calculus 10. We did a quick review of sine, cosine and tangent. If I had a group of students who were unfamiliar with the ratios, I would take a day or two to introduce the ratios. A good understanding of the trig ratios is necessary for them to be able to do a good job with this assignment.

Since we were using apps on the iPad, I took a good 20-30 minutes to explain the logistics behind how to hold the iPad, etc. in order to get accurate measurements with the Tape Measure app and the Clinometer app.

Some examples include: Picture Word Inductive Model (PWIM), Reader’s Workshop, Balanced Literacy, Scaffolded/Guided Reading, Levelled Literacy Intervention and Running Records along with many others across the province.

The intent of Saskatchewan Reads is to provide a framework for school divisions and systems to build their own reading initiative that meets the needs of their unique student population. This document provides practical supports to teachers as they ensure their students are successful. It is intended to develop increased capacity at the school and system level with respect to improving student reading. Following are a series of activities in which students apply various math skills to better understand the problems of world hunger and what steps are being taken to reduce the number of people without enough to eat. This activity examines the effect of hunger on children and the connection with child mortality, which is another MDG Hunger Target: Halve, between 1990 and 2015, the proportion of people who suffer from hunger. Child Mortality Target: Reduce by two-thirds, between 1990 and 2015, the under-five mortality rate.
