The use of welding products and equipment in the welding process causes emission of fumes. Many, if not most, of these fumes contain manganese. A small amount of manganese is necessary for the human body to remain healthy. However, too much manganese can cause serious medical problems.
These two documents explain, in detail, the signs and symptoms of the exposure of too much manganese in welding. The toxicity of manganese causes a progressive condition, referred to as Manganism (also known as manganese poisoning, maganese-induced parkinsonism, and manganese intoxication).
This document outlines the safety procedures, diagrams and other important operating tips for using the Powermax 45 Plasma Cutter.
This document outlines the safety considerations necessary for welding on containers that may have previously contained flammable or combustible materials.
This document describes what plasma is and how it cuts through metal.

This volume presents the financial literacy results of the OECD Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) 2022 and examines 15-year-old students’ understanding of money matters in 20 countries and economies. It explores the links between their financial literacy and their competencies in mathematics and reading, and differences across socio-demographic groups. It also offers an overview of their experiences with money, their financial behaviour and attitudes, and their exposure to financial literacy at home and in school. It assesses the extent to which students in twenty participating countries and economies have the knowledge and skills, acquired both in and outside of school, that are essential for making financial decisions and plans for their future. Many 15-year-olds face financial decisions and are already consumers of financial services. They are likely to face growing complexity and risks in the financial marketplace as they move into adulthood. Since better knowledge and understanding of financial concepts and risks could help improve financial decision-making amongst adults and young people, financial literacy is now globally recognised as an essential life skill.
As children move through elementary school, their peer relationships take on greater influence and they begin to congregate in areas where adults may not always be present (in the bathroom), or where they can be easily hidden from view (in the playground). The physical bullying that was common in the preschool years may turn more into social bullying and exclusion, which is harder for adults to see and often, harder for kids to talk about.
Bullying behaviour may include: name-calling, pushing, giggling or making faces when another child talks, excluding a child from a game, ignoring a child, tattling to get a child in trouble, using a child’s name as an insult, making a point not to sit or line up near a certain child, or writing negative messages on the internet.
This resource includes much more information on bullying; intervention, how parents can help, facts, solutions and much more.
Socially-based Curriculum Unit
In this unit developed for NAC1O (Expressing Aboriginal Culture), students create a collaborative art piece that expresses Aboriginal identity in a variety of areas. The collaborative art piece consists of many individual pieces of art that form together to form the word “pride.” Each letter has a group assigned to it, and each letter is assigned a theme/idea (ie. clanship, land claims, traditional teachings, community activities, etc) that is researched and then expressed in the artwork of each letter and presented to the class.
Students are provided with an opportunity to discover why Aboriginal peoples identify and are concerned with certain social and political issues. They are also given the opportunity to research an assigned topic, express themselves creatively, work in a group setting, discuss salient issues, and present to their peers. The project also fosters a sense of classroom unity via large group collaboration.

Panic
Many people experience some mild sensations when they feel anxious about something, but a panic attack is much more intense than usual. A panic attack can be very frightening and you may feel a strong desire to escape the situation or to seek emergency assistance.
Panic disorder is used to describe the condition where panic attacks seem to happen unexpectedly rather than always in predictable situations. Importantly, someone with panic disorder has a persistent fear of having another attack or worries about the consequences of the attack. Many people change their behaviour to try to prevent panic attacks. Some people are affected so much that they try to avoid any place where it might be difficult to get help or to escape from. When this avoidance is severe it is called agoraphobia.

A parabola is a u-shaped curve that arises not only in the field of mathematics, but also in many other fields such as physics and engineering.
Solar Dishes such as the one shown use a parabolic shape to focus the incoming light into a single collector.
