This poster describes a set of learning principles specific to First Peoples. The First Peoples Principles of Learning were articulated by Indigenous Elders, scholars and knowledge keepers to guide the development of the curriculum and teaching of the the English First Peoples course created by the BC Ministry of Education and First Nations Education Steering Committee in 2006/2007.

Exploring “renewal” and “regeneration” through a holistic perspective, this project presents these concepts through the lens of sustainability. Students make connections to these concepts in the classroom and on the land. Whether they are exploring the impact of fires and controlled burns on the ecosystem or considering ways to regenerate and heal from trauma, students will have the opportunity to consider the many ways that people and the environment can rejuvenate in the wake of real or perceived destruction.In this folder, you will find:1. The video series goes through the seven sacred teachings in kid-friendly language. There are seven videos, one for each teaching, as well as an overview video. The videos are short and can stand alone without the resource. The resource goes along with each of the videos. Could be paired with Leader in Me or character education.
