Kate Kinsella, Ed.D., is a teacher educator in the Department of Secondary Education at San Francisco State University. She teaches coursework addressing academic language and literacy development in linguistically and culturally diverse classrooms. She has maintained secondary classroom involvement by teaching an academic literacy class for adolescent English learners through the University’s Step to College Program.

Students work as physicists to understand centripetal acceleration concepts. They also learn about a good robot design and the accelerometer sensor. They also learn about the relationship between centripetal acceleration and centripetal force governed by the radius between the motor and accelerometer and the amount of mass at the end of the robot's arm. Students graph and analyze data collected from an accelerometer, and learn to design robots with proper weight distribution across the robot for their robotic arms. Upon using a data logging program, they view their own data collected during the activity. By activity end , students understand how a change in radius or mass can affect the data obtained from the accelerometer through the plots generated from the data logging program. More specifically, students learn about the accuracy and precision of the accelerometer measurements from numerous trials.

This site offers a 360 view of Mars from the Mar’s Curiosity rover.

Blackboard is a course-management system (or CMS) that is web based and password protected. Similar to Moodle, this online program allows staff and students to engage in online or offline classes. It also allows staff and students to utilize online activities and resources (for both online and offline classes).

In Saskatchewan, the Ministry of Learning hosts some of its materials on Blackboard so that all educators across the province can access them. It is used to house password protected resources and materials.

The 6 minute video and accompanying document will show early years educators how to access resources and workshops using the Saskatchewan EdOnline site. 

EVERFI provides unrivaled cloud-based digital courses to a growing and connected high-speed network base of technology users of all ages from K-12 students.

These courses are FREE and excellent. Students navigate engaging courses at their own pace.

Accessing Professional Supports

Saskatchewan Guidelines for School Division Professional Services

Professional supports may include, but are not limited to speech-language pathologists, psychologists, social workers and occupational therapists. Professionals are required to maintain standing with their specific regulatory body and to adhere to professional practice guidelines and ethics for their profession’s practice in Saskatchewan.

Materials scanned into the Sun West library on Kurzweil can be accessed and used throughout the Division. This means that materials scanned in one school can be saved and accessed by staff in other schools in Sun West. This is a huge time-saving feature for many schools where time to scan may be limited. The copyright understanding is that materials used provided that the school has a “hard copy” of the resource being used. So, if a school is using the Kurzweil scanned version of Underground to Canada, a copy of the book must also be available in the school.

This Module highlights classroom considerations that promote access to the general education curriculum for students with disabilities (est. completion time: 1.5 hours).

In this activity, students research scientific discoveries that happened by accident in the past, and learn how gamma-rays were discovered by 20th century scientists. In the process, students develop an understanding that science theories change in the face of new evidence. Students form literature circles, read "Esperanza Rising" or "Becoming Naomi Leon" by Pam MuĐoz Ryan, use a Critical Thinking Map to discuss social issues, and use a class wiki.

Grade 10 Accounting focuses on an accounting system for a service business. Each chapter focuses on one step of the system from the opening entry to closing the fiscal period and starting over again for the next period. There is also a lesson on GAAPs.
