Working with either Edison or Microbit systems, students will gain an understanding of the importance of automation in agriculture while working together to complete a series of fun coding activities. Note: This resource is designed to compliment the Edison and Microbit courses offered through SaskCode. Edison and Microbit systems are not supplied by AITC-SK. This is a 45 minute virtual field trip.

Learn about Canada’s ongoing human rights journey by engaging with Indigenous concepts of human rights and discovering how people have used and continue to use their voices and effective action to claim their rights. Our guides will take your students on an age‐appropriate and inspiring journey while helping them to see how these stories continue to be relevant and ongoing in Canada today. We’ll help your students walk away with a greater understanding of human rights and how the impacts of colonialism and racism continue to affect life in Canada.

Students will:
• Learn that human rights protections in Canada were fought for and won through the effective actions and voices of many groups and individuals.
• Experience exhibits and the inspiring Museum architecture as if they were at the Museum in person.
• Interact with a Museum guide and their classmates to deepen their understanding of equality and human rights.
• Engage in discussion, critical thinking and reflection on how colonialism and racism have ongoing impacts on the rights of people living in Canada today.

Your job is to build a “machine” that will pop a balloon.  You must use at least one lever, one inclined plane, one wedge, one wheel and axle, and one pulley.   

This series of lesson plans, built around the first-person narrative of a 12-year-old Inuk boy, will help you and your students appreciate life in the Inuit community of Salluit, in the northern part of Nunavik, Northern Quebec. Although designed for students from 9 to 12 years of age, some of the lesson plans and strategies in this unit can be adapted for other grade levels. Suggested activities and lists of research resources offer exciting and engaging opportunities to learn more about the history, customs and traditions of Inuit in Canada.

The aim of this booklet is to enhance the knowledge of students about the history, cultures and traditions of Inuit and, in particular, those who live in Canada's northern Inuit community of Salluit.

By completing the lessons in this booklet, students will be able to:

- express an appreciation for the strong traditions and unique culture of the Inuit people, in various ways
- describe the various developments that affected Canada's Arctic from its early history to the present
- locate the community of Salluit and its neighbouring Inuit municipalities on a map of Canada
- relate the similarities and differences between life in Salluit and life in their own community.

Through Mala's Eyes...Life in an Inuit Community offers educators opportunities to address provincial learning outcomes in the social studies, history and geography portions of their curriculum. Given the nature of the suggested activities, students will also address learning outcomes in language, the arts and mathematics.
