This document shows a sample schedule for a 110-minute language block. It’s important to note that this schedule should shift across the school year to better meet students’ changing needs. For example, focus may shift more to multisyllabic word reading and spelling.

These rubric exemplars were developed to provide a consistent and common resource that aligns with the Saskatchewan curriculum and provide opportunities for transfer of responsibility between educator and student. These rubrics are designed to be edited by educator and student.

Developed by the Middle Years PLC group, these resources are intended to support teachers in providing at-home learning experiences for their students. They may also be helpful for in-class planning. This set of resources will be updated and expanded as further development occurs. Areas of learning covered include reading, writing, movement, creativity, mathematics, and social studies/science.

Grade 7 Reading Response Exemplars that can be used to support the Grade 7 Reading Assessment (RAD) or with teaching reader response skills with your students. These exemplars can also be used to help co-create criteria or support self-assessment processes in your classrooms.

How can I, as a Grade 8 teacher, support my students’ reading achievement?

The Ministry of Education has developed a brief support document that outlines the link between Pan-Canadian Assessment Program (PCAP) and Saskatchewan English Language Arts curricula and offers some questions teachers could consider as they reflect on reading instruction and student achievement.

As your child’s first teacher, you will help your child learn to walk, talk, play, count, express feelings, regulate emotions, share, love, and much more. These milestones are best achieved by providing a safe and caring environment for the healthy growth and development of your child.

ŕHottest, Coldest, Highest, DeepestĚŇ takes the reader on a journey around the world to various continents found on Earth that contain unique natural features.

ŕHow Animals TalkĚŇ is an informational, nonfiction selection describing how various animals communicate or send messages. Animals communicate with each other to warn of danger, to share feelings, to attract a mate, and even prove dominance.
