Through two lessons and five activities, students explore the structure and function of cell membranes. Specific transport functions, including active and passive transport, are presented. In the legacy cycle tradition, students are motivated with a Grand Challenge question. As they study the ingress and egress of particles through membranes, students learn about quantum dots and biotechnology through the concept of intracellular engineering.

Students learn about how biomedical engineers create assistive devices for persons with fine motor skill disabilities. They learn about types of forces, balanced and unbalanced forces, and the relationship between form and function, as well as the structure of the hand. They do this by designing, building and testing their own hand "gripper" prototypes that are able to grasp and lift a 200 ml cup of sand.

Developed for third grade. Students will discuss what happens to a jar of water after it is taken out of the refrigerator. Once it has been concluded that the jar seems to "sweat" or has droplets of water on the outside, the students will be asked why they think this happens. Developed for second grade. Students will first hypothesize whether wheat bread or white bread will grow more mold. They will test the hypothesis using a simple and inexpensive set up. Bread will be placed in a plastic bag to be observed and never opened. Students will measure mold on a daily basis and record the data to graph later. The purpose of NASA's Earth Observatory is to provide a freely accessible publication on the Internet where the public can obtain new satellite imagery and scientific information about our home planet. The focus is on Earth's climate and environmental change. The site is divided into six main sections: Data and Images, Features, News, Reference, Missions, and Experiments. The Data and Images, Features, and Reference sections are each subdivided into sections for Atmosphere, Oceans, Land, Life on Earth, and Heat and Energy. National Science Laboratory Video Lessons for Indigenous Youth

First Nations University has developed a new science teaching resource called the National Science Laboratory Video Lessons for Indigenous Youth. The resource includes a variety of materials that bring together Indigenous knowledge and modern science, such as interviews with elders and knowledge keepers, laboratory manuals, and videos of lab experiments completed by students at Carlton Comprehensive High School in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan.

FNU professor and project lead Arzu Sardarli explained that Indigenous knowledge on topics such as heat retention in teepees can be explained using the laws of physics and applied toward house construction today. "It's important not only for Indigenous students, it's very helpful for any student and I hope what we created within this project will be used by mainstream schools, too,” said Sardarli.

The educational materials developed include interviews with Elders and Knowledge Keepers, and laboratory manuals and videos for high school Biology, Chemistry and Physics classes.
