Ignition – Digital Literacy & Responsibility™ combines the power of cutting-edge instructional design, new media, and simulations to educate teens and empower them with the skill set to leverage technology safely and effectively. The four-hour curriculum, designed for students in grades 6 – 9—informs students about how technology works and provides an introduction to STEM careers. Calldecott winning author Laura Vaccaro has compiled a free set of literacy resources to go along with her books which educators are free to print and share. These resources would support literacy in both reading and comprehending, as well as creating and responding to text. Most of the books are available to read online, or could be read aloud as part of a video shared with families. The resources to accompany the books are printable, so may be supportive of those families with less access or familiarity with technology

This is a great starting point for administrators when looking to improve and work on literacy in their schools.

"In this continuation of Saskatchewan Reads we have Kim, who is a principal with very little background knowledge in reading. Kim’s ability to provide leadership for a Saskatchewan Reads school is enhanced by following the key components of this document. This resource builds on the sound research from educational leaders such as Routman, Sharratt, Fullan and others. It also provides practical concrete application of promising practises within our province.

This document addresses key areas in being a successful leader within the context of a Saskatchewan Reads school. Some of these key areas include: self-reflection on why leadership is important, how to develop common beliefs, how to be a lead learner and role model, how to create a reading culture and environment, how to lead with a reading focus and how to manage all the different components involved.

The intent of Saskatchewan Reads for Administrators is to provide some very practical tools and processes for administrators at all levels of the system to use in supporting teachers implementing Saskatchewan Reads. The Planning Guidelines are intended to take all the information presented and map out how, when and where it all fits into the school year. It is important to realize that all schools will be at different stages of the journey, thus certain components will take on different levels of priority.

Libby, by Overdrive is a books app that allows kids to browse and borrow ebooks and audiobooks from public libraries for free. Kids will need a library card to download or stream the books they want to borrow. The app connects users to their local library's ebook and audiobook collection. Users can link multiple library cards from different branches to access a wider collection. Kids can sample books before deciding to borrow them. If they're not immediately available, they can put titles on hold, and the activity tracker lets them track what they've read. Search for a specific title or explore different collections, including Kids, Teens, What's Popular?, and Subjects. Little kids can access picture books with read-along audio, making some books more accessible to early readers. Even though Libby, by Overdrive gives users access to a wide range of books, grown-ups can activate a juvenile or young adult filter in order to limit kids' access to the entire collection.

This is a fabulous resource to support your literacy goals in the classroom. There are endless options of good-quality children's literature and accompanying activities. The website states: "This award-winning digital library hosts over 10,000 resources directly tied to the books teachers, caregivers and community partners turn to everyday. Organize all of your book resources in one place, create and share book lists, find helpful reading tips and strategies and track student reading progress by creating and signing into your free account today." All of this is available with a free account.

The Literacy Shed is home to a wealth of visual resources that have been curated from YouTube, Vimeo and other sites to meet curricular outcomes in ELA.
The resources can be used in stand alone literacy lessons, can form the basis for a whole Literacy unit or can support literacy units that you already have in place. With the many book based activities using the book alongside the digital resource is recommended.

The Lethbridge Curriculum Developers Group Explore French Through Music website is a free, open access resource to support French language instruction with fun and interactive songs. Their are various materials provided on the website including songs, interactive activities, and cultural exploration. Activities are available for individuals to download for use in your class or use them as models for developing your own language materials.

Groups of students creatively/collaboratively write a modern day myth and show evidence that the myth has Norse/Greek/Native characteristics or a combination of those characteristics.

This video demonstrates how Common Core literacy standards can come to life naturally, thoughtfully and joyfully for kindergartners, who engage in real-world research in their own school. Through interviewing school staff members, the kindergarteners come to understand their contributions to the school and the meaning of community, and create beautiful informational cards to honor staff.

library2go helps keep students reading. Students can access ebooks and audiobooks from the provincial library system if they have a library card. This is an opportune time for students to develop fluency and stamina for reading independently. Invite them to explore titles in different genres and to find nonfiction titles that build on their interests. If students don’t have a library card, they can check out their regional library’s membership tab. Many libraries have an online application option so that students can gain a temporary library card number to borrow materials
