Students find examples of adjectives in a shared reading. Then students "become" major characters in a book and describe themselves and other characters, using powerful adjectives.
This lesson provides teachers with support for using text-dependent questions to help students derive big ideas and key understandings while developing vocabulary using the children's novel, Charlotte's Web. A story of friendship and loyalty between Wilbur, a spring pic and a grey spider named Charlotte. Wilbur learns that he is being fattened for slaughter in the fall. Wilbur is at first disgusted by the fact that charlotte eats flies, but comes to both appreciate and love her.
Character Perspective Charting allows students to compare multiple characters and their points of view to better understand a story.
By conducting interviews, sharing and assessing data, and writing papers based on their authentic research, students reach their own conclusions on the meaning of the American Dream.

"ChatterPix is an app that converts pictures of inanimate objects into pictures that talk! All you do is snap a picture, draw a line to make it talk, and record your voice! ChatterPix can be used to make silly greetings, playful messages, and creative cards. In the classroom, ChatterPix can be used as a way for students to take pictures of their work and record information about it! A student's ChatterPix can be emailed, sent to YouTube, or saved on a device. Teachers can have student's save their ChatterPix creations in the camera roll on an iPad to review later."
