English Theater After Shakespeare: Crash Course Theater #17
Rating
0.0 stars

This week on Crash Course Theater, Shakespeare is dead. Long live Shakespeare. Well, long live English theater, anyway. Actually, it's about to get banned. Anyway, we're discussing where English theater went post-1616. We'll talk about Ben Jonson, revenge tragedies, and court masques.

Enough is Enough Performance (Gr. 9-12)
Rating
0.0 stars

Enough is Enough is a powerful 30-minute performance tailored to Saskatchewan Ministry of Education learning outcomes in Social Studies, Music, and English Language Arts for grades 9-12.

*A full teacher's guide is available to download.

Zoey Roy’s explains that:

Enough is Enough unravels what we think we know about Indigenous people in the context of Canada and rebuild a collective understanding of how we can learn from Indigenous knowledge and spirituality to make our home in Canada better for everyone. Inspired by my own pursuit of self-love, healing, and joy. The following lessons are steppingstones – a pathway for engaging the whole human self in learning and growing. Along my journey, I learned, you can’t think your way out of a broken heart. I want people to know that they are enough, to feel that they are enough, and to know that all people, animals, plants, minerals, and emotions all have a place in this world just like you. They are all enough too. Our journey is not theirs, so our judgements have no place in their journey. I want this unit to inspire compassion, will, solidarity and love.

Enseignement sur le plastique dans les océans
Unrestricted Use

Rating
0.0 stars

Entomology in Action

Lesson 1 introduces students to the blow fly's life cycle and the accumulated degree hour (ADH) used by forensic entomologists for estimating the time of death. Lesson 2 introduces Dr. Krinsky's entomological work in solving a murder case in 1986. Students access several primary-source documents related to Dr. Krinsky's entomological work. Both lessons help students expand their understanding of a forensic entomologist's work and appreciate how scientists account for environmental/variable factors in forming a conclusion in a scientific study.

Entrepreneurship 30: Teaching Franchises with Graphic Novels
Unrestricted Use

The students were starting a lesson on franchising and how it can be considered a form of entrepreneurship. We discussed the benefits and drawbacks of being either a franchisor or a franchisee. To engage the students into some heavier content I found a graphic novel, “Tales o f Garcon, The Franchise Players”, on the website Teachers pay Teachers. This was a great resource meant for business/ economics students. I found the first 2 chapters fit perfectly into an entrepreneurship course. The first chapter was a free download and examined the concept of franchising. It outlined the history of franchises, the players involved, discussed business terminology and ended in a dramatic fashion forcing the students to ask themselves the following:
• Potential risks involved in franchising
• Legalities of franchising
• Protection available to both parties

In this unit, students explore the various roles of environmental engineers, including: environmental cleanup, water quality, groundwater resources, surface water and groundwater flow, water contamination, waste disposal and air pollution. Specifically, students learn about the factors that affect water quality and the conditions that enable different animals and plants to survive in their environments. Next, students learn about groundwater and how environmental engineers study groundwater to predict the distribution of surface pollution. Students also learn how water flows through the ground, what an aquifer is and what soil properties are used to predict groundwater flow. Additionally, students discover that the water they drink everyday comes from many different sources, including surface water and groundwater. They investigate possible scenarios of drinking water contamination and how contaminants can negatively affect the organisms that come in contact with them. Students learn about the three most common methods of waste disposal and how environmental engineers continue to develop technologies to dispose of trash. Lastly, students learn what causes air pollution and how to investigate the different pollutants that exist, such as toxic gases and particulate matter. Also, they investigate the technologies developed by engineers to reduce air pollution.
