This is the presentation and supporting resources that were used at the SHEA conference 2019 to develop Collective Responsibility and 21st century skills.
Make learning come to life! Participating in hands-on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) Challenges can provide students with opportunities to develop new skills and understandings related to their preferred life/career choices. These challenges help students build 21st Century Skills while exploring potential occupations of interest. Students will be able to reflect on what areas best fit their interest, skills, values, etc. as they work to create the life they want to live.

This is a year long school-wide plan to introduce and discuss SECRET skills with your students over the morning announcements and/or in your classroom.
The following are two examples of what has been done in the past in a school in MB.
This activity makes students aware of how well they are self-managing or regulating.
It ASKS : "Today when you are working, there will be a clock or timer on the SMARTBoard. At random intervals, you will hear a beep or a bell. When you hear the sound, reflect on your behaviour. Are you self-managing?"
Students complete the chart attached to measure their growth and ability to self-manage or regulate.

Use this kit to give your students a quiz to see if they struggle with organization issues, then teach them how to organize themselves with the information contained.
This is a reflection that students can fill out to self-asses their SECRET 21st century skills as well as look at their strengths and weakness.
This is a series of toolkits for older students.
The toolkits allow students to explore a topic, watch videos on the content, and apply what they learn.
Topics include:
Interacting with profs, library skills, managing your time, preparing for exams, presentation skills, reading textbooks, taking notes, thinking critically, working in groups, and writing.

The Wellness Resource Hub aims to be a starting point that facilitates knowledge exchange and sharing across communities and Nations.
Most wellness resources are editable, and we encourage communities to adapt them to fit their children and needs.
Work Place and Apprenticeship Math 30- What Bank To Use When Starting A Small Business
In this lesson student will be developing an idea for a possible small business that they would like to start and run. Once they have developed an idea for a business they will have to research what services different financial institutions offered in their area, or the province. Once they have finished seeing what services are out there, students will then have to decide what institution they would like to use, and determine what requirements they need to meet from the bank. Depending on how much time you would like to spend on this you could have students even come up with a loan proposal and a business plan as well. This can be done in partners or the students can work on the alone as well.
