This is a booklet containing 96 mathematics problems involving skills relating to algebra, fractions, graph analysis, geometry, measurement, scale, calculus, and other topics. Learners will use mathematics to explore NASA science and space exploration content relating to space weather, the study of the Sun and its interactions with Earth. Each problem or problem set is introduced with a brief paragraph about the underlying science, written in a simplified, non-technical jargon where possible. Problems are often presented as a multi-step or multi-part activities, and there are problem sets for learners in grades 3-5, 6-8 and 9-12. This booklet can be found on the Space Math@NASA website.

This is a lesson about density. Learners will relate the concept of density to the density of dust in space. They will use mission data from the Student Dust Counter (SDC) interface to determine the density of dust grains in a volume of space in the Solar System in order to answer questions concerning the distribution of dust in the solar system. They will discover that space is much more sparsely populated with dust than they may have thought. Students discuss their findings with the class.

Learners will analyze spectrogram data and compare it to local Kp indices in an attempt to determine global magnetic storminess. This course is designed to help students develop a general awareness of health careers and specific preparation for physical therapy and sports medicine occupations. Classroom instruction covers such topics as: medical terminology; human anatomy; emergency procedures; soft tissue and bone injuries; causes, symptoms and management of injuries; nutrition; physical fitness; and career opportunities. Developed for third grade. In participating in this activity, students will realize that seeds can sprout and grow without being immersed in soil. After looking at the inside of a lima bean and learning about the different parts of the seed, the students will grow their own little garden of mini-mustard plants in any shape they desire, using a sponge as the base. The kids will be able to care for the seeds soon after they sprout. They will be able to "taste" their mustard plants and even use them to spice food.Biology In Elementary Schools is a Saint Michael's College student project. The teaching ideas on this page have been found, refined, and developed by students in a college-level course on the teaching of biology at the elementary level. Unless otherwise noted, the lesson plans have been tried at least once by students from our partner schools. This wiki has been established to share ideas about teaching biology in elementary schools.
