A Year plan to guide your classroom or school in implementing the 21st Century Skills

The inquiry learning examples below will give you some ideas for launching a successful project or unit with your students. Moreover, they are engaging, motivating, and challenging for all grade levels.

Join spoken word poet Janelle “ecoaborijanelle” Pewapsconias. Using flow poetry, you and your students will explore our Saskatchewan watersheds and water systems as a topic of focus for poetic expression and scientific inquiry. The broadcast will include performances by the artist as well as opportunities to observe a collaborative writing process, practice induction and deduction, and assess the created piece based on the flow poetry skills developed.

For every piece of artwork submitted from the project, the Bezos Family Foundation will donate $3 (up to $700,000) to youth-focused nutrition programs."

Ignition – Digital Literacy & Responsibility™ combines the power of cutting-edge instructional design, new media, and simulations to educate teens and empower them with the skill set to leverage technology safely and effectively. The four-hour curriculum, designed for students in grades 6 – 9—informs students about how technology works and provides an introduction to STEM careers. In addition to the modules, students apply their learning in virtual environments, demonstrating their mastery of issues such as privacy, security, cyberbullying, conducting online research, digital relationships, and the viral nature of the web.

Project-based learning, or PBL, challenges students to design and engage in more authentic, extended, and complex learning. But while PBL is a trusted strategy for increasing student engagement and learning, it's not easy to orchestrate. There are tons of moving pieces, and if you're doing it right, students will be engaging in a variety of interest-driven projects all with various needs and on different schedules. So how do you manage it all? Tech can be a huge help. This list gathers some useful productivity and organization tools that can help both teachers and students keep track of, finish, and assess projects.
