A virtual lab giving students different ways to visually see how to balance a chemical equation.
What are the Basic Parts of the Atom - Protons, Neutrons, Electrons, Nucleus - This video describes the basic parts of the atom, including the proton, neutron and electron. The electrons are found in the electron cloud. This area takes up most of the space of the atom. The small and dense nucleus hold the protons and the neutrons. The protons and neutrons are measured by amu's, atomic mass units.

Covering some 70 percent of Earth's surface, clouds play a key role in our planet's well-being. But how do they form, why are there so many types, and what clues can they give us about the weather and climate to come? Try your hand at classifying clouds and investigating the role they play in severe tropical storms.
quarter of the global fish stocks are regarded as overfished, half of these been exploited to the limits of their capacity. Overfishing occurs when more fish are continuously being caught than naturally proliferate. Scientists fear that many stocks will collapse if the politics and management of fisheries do not change drastically. This means that fisheries activities must be coordinated internationally and that fish as a resource must be handled sustainably by law. From an economic perspective, overfishing is a problem which has developed because fish stocks are a common resource. A fish in the sea belongs to everyone; a caught fish belongs only to the fisherman.
The online game ecoOcean addresses this issue and shows that large catches do not necessarily bring the best results. In ecoOcean the players become fishermen and have to develop the best possible strategy for sustainable fishing.
The Idea
The online game ecoOcean was designed in association with the Cluster of Excellence “The Future Ocean” at Kiel University from the research of the “Sustainable Fisheries” work group.
In “The Future Ocean”, economists, lawyers, fishery biologists, oceanographers and geologists work together on developing new approaches and models for the realisation of a sustainable fisheries management concept.
The computer will give you a list of chemical symbols and a list of chemical names. Choose the chemical name that each chemical symbol represents. Press the 'Check my answers!' button after you have made your choices.
For something we use every day, energy is a pretty mysterious concept. This Lab investigates what energy is, how it can be converted into useful forms, and why some sources are running low. In our Research Challenge, you'll use scientific data to design renewable energy systems for cities across the U.S.—and compete with others to see whose designs can produce the most power.
Amazing videos to learn most anything related to math or science (and a bit of soc). Select Playlists from the top menu to see videos grouped by topic.
Please find a number of units to support high school science from grades 10 in Saskatchewan.
Welcome to It's Elemental - Balancing Act! The computer will give you a number of incomplete chemical equations. Balance the chemical equations by selecting coefficients from the pull-down menus. Once you think the equation is balanced, press the 'Check my answer!' button. Have fun and good luck!
Mr. Gunstenson is a teacher based in Herbert School, Chinook School Division. He has a google site for all of his classes. He teaches a multitude of classes including these science classes: Science 7-10, Health Science 20, Biology 30, Physical Science 20, and Chemistry 30. He has lesson notes and worksheets for most of his classes posted on this site.
We intend to create a winter garden and landscape the garden patch on the east side of the school. The landscaping will help make the school look more inviting and create a more welcoming atmosphere that persuades people to come into our school! The following are the powerpoints and outlines we used to do this.
Over 150 simulations, ready to use and ready to bring concepts to life for your students in Math & Science!
The result is an immersive, multimedia experience that brings players on a deep dive into key sequences and major science themes covered in the documentary and digital series. Using a combination of clickable 360 landscapes, 2D and 3D videos, animations, interviews with scientists, and mini-games, the Polar Lab takes players onto the ice and into the lab in search of evidence to answer big questions about Earth’s climate—past, present, and future. It also puts them in the driver’s seat, as they work with host Caitlin at “Polar Lab HQ” to collect data from the field, answer questions, and play games to keep the story moving through three action-packed missions…and what a story it is.
