ROVER (Recommended Online Video Education Resources) is a video streaming service for Saskatchewan teachers and students in the PreK-12 education system. It is managed and maintained by the Saskatchewan Ministry of Education. ROVER is a video-on-demand service that provides teachers and students with the convenience of immediate access to streamed, educational videos that support curricula.

This site also offers all of the curriculum documents for all grade levels.

If you are unable to access the site, it may be because a Saskatchewan Ministry of Education Blackboard login is required. All students have an Edonline account, so contact your child's school or the Ministry of Education’s Support Desk at 1-866-933-8333 or email at stans@gov.sk.ca for login information. Folkfest is an annual event linked to curricular outcomes for Grade 6. Goals are to improve and refine Folkfest components with the use of “Student Showcase” and various professional development opportunities. Students will be guided into various uses of technology to display and showcase their projects.

Global and Canadian Defenders for human rights have changed societal conditions and provide inspiration for students. The overall goal of Speak Truth to Power Canada is to raise student awareness that advances in human rights come through the actions of individuals.

In this lesson plan on Truth and Reconciliation you will find:

- An interview with Chief Littlechild including his biography.
- Student activities that support the theme of this lesson, including reflection activities on Chief Littlechild’s life experiences, Residential Schools in Canada, the Truth and Reconciliation’s findings and recommendations on how to move forward.
- Three brief community defender profiles to expand the lesson and encourage students to identify with a variety of defenders for human rights.

To support the lesson on Truth and Reconciliation, you will also find:
1. Sections or articles of selected legal instruments that are tied to the theme of Truth and Reconciliation.
2. A student activity that links the Moments in Time timeline of advancements and setbacks in human rights from a Canadian perspective.

You can, of course, choose to use any or all of the suggested student activities.

Sustainability Foundations is the introductory course to EVERFI’s sustainability curriculum. In this standalone lesson, students learn about the interconnectedness of environmental and human systems. They are asked to reflect on the kind of future they want for the world, what it will take to get there, and the impact that individuals can have on the environment.

In this lesson, students learn are introduced to the fundamentals of sustainability, focusing on each student's individual responsibility as an active member of the global society.

This course, designed for students in grades 5-8, covers core areas of sustainability education: global resources, protecting biodiversity, impacting climate change, and the intersection with human health.

After taking Sustainability Foundations: Plants, Animals, and Our World, students will walk away with an understanding that every choice we make impacts others. Learners will explore the interconnectedness of environmental systems and how to make informed decisions to improve the health of those systems.

Plants, Animals and Our World covers topics like human health, climate change, global resource constraints, and biodiversity. This course will use science and social studies content to build an understanding that we are all responsible for our planet.

This course is designed for learners in the middle grades, to reinforce responsible citizenship of our world by encouraging them to think sustainably. This sustainability mindset established in our existing Sustainability Foundations course will be further built upon in this course. The learner will complete an introduction to recycling, explore the tradeoffs of mining, refining, and recycling, and then engage in a simulation that requires them to make real-world decisions about using their role as a consumer to promote change.

This course helps students develop strategies for becoming better informed consumers when it comes to recycling. Students will learn about single-stream recycling, the environmental impacts of mining and refining raw materials to be used in consumer goods, and how to make sustainable choices.

Possible additional curriculum connections include Social Studies 6 IN6.3 and DR6.2, depending on extensions made in the classroom.

That’s Not Fair! is a series developed by the Canadian Civil Liberties Education Trust to invite kids, ages 7 to 11, to think critically about what it means to live in a democracy.

An excellent resource from the Eastern Ontario Catholic Curriculum Cooperative. This resource includes an in-depth simulation to place students into the “shoes” of those living in poverty. “This unit will help engage students to actively explore international trade, development and co-operation issues as they pertain to Canada, its trading partners, and the fair trade system.”

The Kindergarten to Grade 9 Treaty Education Learning Resource is designed for teachers to assist them in integrating the Treaty content and perspective with Saskatchewan’s curricula and is based on the inquiry method of teaching. It provides information about Treaties, First Nations people and the history of what is now known as Saskatchewan, as well as sample learning experiences, assessment ideas and suggested resource materials to support teachers in the development of their lessons.

A unit for students in grade 6 that explores the causes and consequences of residential schools in Canada.

"Our intention is not only to teach the history, but also to engage our learners in the critical thinking process
so it is no longer just the sharing of information, the critically thinking about what led us to this point in time, and intentionally planning for where we want to go in the future as we walk along the path to Reconciliation.

Reconciliation is both an individual journey as well as a collective journey. Our hope is that this resource will support our students in learning the history present within our community, create intercultural understanding of our complex communities, and help build the unknown future ahead."

The lesson plans in this resource are organized into three lines or units of inquiry. The lines of inquiry
are designed to develop students’ understanding and ability to respond to an overarching question and
challenge:

Overarching inquiry question: What might meaningful reconciliation look like?

Overarching challenge: Create a powerful representation to show what meaningful reconciliation means.

If taught individually, the lessons help students understand various aspects of residential schools and
reconciliation in Canada. As components of a unit of study, these lessons invite critical inquiry into a wider
range of topics and issues relating to reconciliation in Canada.

Each lesson includes detailed instructional strategies and required support materials. These include briefing
sheets, activity sheets, images, and source documents.
