What Is It?

When the COVID-19 health crisis began, the Panorama team moved quickly to compile a list of informational resources, articles, and guides to support educators in practicing self-care and resiliency despite the circumstances.

SciShow produces informational science videos for students of any age. They do have the look and feel that would likely appeal to younger students.

These videos are hosted by Jessi and her robot rat “Squeaks” and answer questions that inquiring young minds really want to know.

A variety of topics are covered in videos including: science on the playground, getting to know your emotions, simple machines, experiments, animal information, brainteasers and more.

"On our new Story Time With Panorama Education resource library, we have curated a group of stories designed to help educators and parents combine literacy and SEL. (Of course, we also have a few that are simply meant to be read for pleasure and to make us laugh!) In order to support educators and caretakers develop “master readers,” our team wanted to share a few of our favorite children’s books with you and the children you support.

You will notice that the stories we chose will also highlight characters' thoughts, challenges, and emotions. Talking through these with your students or children will help develop those SEL skills. We have also created an accompanying guide outlining best practices in building literacy to support you as you use the videos."

Thrively is a website that helps kids find online and local activities that fit their particular interests. Thrively was created with input from pediatric neuropsychologists, and the site bursts with teacher-contributed lesson plans and ideas. Once a teacher sets up a class, kids take an assessment that identifies 23 potential strengths. The site then suggests activities tailored to kids' interests and strengths; Thrively says it has more than 100,000 on file and has recently created new content related to projects, videos, journaling, and career pathway maps. Kids can click on a "Done It" button when they've completed an activity, and progress can be viewed using site dashboards. Users can also share activity boards with other members of their social circle.

At Playworks, we create a place for every kid on the playground to feel included, be active, and build valuable social and emotional skills. Here are some of the games and activities our schools use to make recess fun for all students.
