English for Financial Literacy is an instructor’s resource for teaching financial literacy concepts and skills in LINC and adult ESL programs at CLB levels 1 to 8. Educational ComicsVisa and Marvel Entertainment teamed up to release two exciting educational comic books, which teach readers, especially young people, about personal finance. The comics, Avengers: Saving the Day, Guardians of the Galaxy: Rocket’s Powerful Plan, and Black Panther: Investing in Each Other, combine Marvel’s iconic Super Heroes with Visa’s financial literacy expertise to introduce readers to fundamental money management concepts in an entertaining and engaging way. The Guardians of the Galaxy has been distributed worldwide in16 different languages.

Although some of the content of the 13 other modules are designed for middle years instruction, they are easily adaptable to secondary learners. Teachers, consult your school division to see if the 13 modules have been taught at the middle years level to avoid repetition.

Overview: Sun West and Junior Achievement Partnership for Grade 68Career Education:

Sun West School Division partnered with Junior Achievement Saskatchewan in support of career development competencies of students through a business lens. Grade 8 Career Education Teachers will continue to deliver Junior Achievement’s Dollars with Sense (Gr. 8) program to our students.

Junior Achievement focuses on the pillars of Financial Literacy, Entrepreneurship, and Work Readiness. The programs include combinations of whole class, team, and individual activities. Junior Achievement kits were sent to schools and categorized in our libraries. The materials are very detailed containing necessary resources, student preparation portfolios, and the teacher inspiration guide. The Student Preparation Portfolio consumables have been sent to schools.

As well, Junior Achievement has updated their online portal and created both Teacher-led and Student self-directed modules. These modules can be used alongside the physical kits – lots of options! Course Access Codes for the online portal have been shared with CD LEAD Teachers and Administrators. The access codes are also included in the packages sent to schools. If any support needed,

They do take a unique approach to some topics so I strongly suggest you preview videos yourself before using them with students. E.g., Smoking is Awesome (this goes through why it makes us feel so good before fully explaining the havoc it puts bodies through!)

There is a lot to ponder and learn from this site!

"Callysto is a free, multimodal learning program for grades 5-12 students in Canada. The program is part of a two-year pilot project by Cybera and the Pacific Institute for Mathematical Sciences (PIMS), who received funding from the federal government’s CanCode program to build and employ new technologies that promote digital literacy and help Canada’s youth develop the foundational skills required to become the future drivers of innovation."
