Family History Inquiry Project in action.

In this Grade 1 inquiry project, the students compare past and present. They make personal connections and are engaged in the process of finding out what life really was like in the past, as well as find similarities to their own lives. Through the use of technology, iPod Nanos and mini-camcorders, students will not bogged down by their limited writing abilities. For English language learners, the use of technology permits them to gather stories in their families' native language.

Students can practice matching words to the correct definition, and donate rice at the same time.

For each correct answer, the United Nations World Food Programme donates 10 grains of rice to a country in need. How’s that for combining word learning with social goodness? When a student plays, there is a visual display of rice (see image) which is added to a bowl each time the student makes a correct response.

Free Rice includes subject area lists in Geography, Science, Math, and others. It is leveled so students can play at just the right level of challenge for them.

This is a great resource! It is a geography-based game - and a whole lot of fun!

"GeoGuessr is a web-based geographic discovery game designed by Anton Wallén, a Swedish IT consultant, released on 9 May 2013. The game uses a semi-randomized Google Street View location for paying members and Mapillary for non-members. The game requires players to guess their location in the world using only the clues visible." (Wikipedia)

You can play one free game every 24 hours or subscribe to be able to play as much as you want.
