This site offers instructional activities for irregular and high frequency words. Not all words use the most common phoneme-grapheme correspondences, but most words are at least partially decodable. Many words appear so frequently in text that children need to learn them before they have been taught the necessary phoneme-grapheme correspondences. 'A Journey into Time Immemorial' is based on the story of Xá:ytem Longhouse in Mission BC in the Fraser Valley just east of Vancouver BC. Simon Fraser University worked closely with the staff at Xá:ytem to produce this award winning website. It is an artistic and cultural interpretation and is not meant to convey precisely accurate archaeological information. Contemporary archaeologists view First Nations as partners and value oral traditions as a source of information about the past that augments the scientific approach.

Juggling in Middle Years
I originally presented this assignment to students as part of a "Character Building" unit on self-discipline.
This assignment is used as one assessment for outcomes 7.5, 8.3, and 9.4/9.5 in middle years PE.
The students use their own time to complete the juggling task, and are instructed to track their progress and present it to the teacher in any way they want. I usually give the students a month to complete the assignment.
