We've talked a lot about modeling data and making inferences about it, but today we're going to look towards the future at how machine learning is being used to build models to predict future outcomes. We'll discuss three popular types of supervised machine learning models: Logistic Regression, Linear discriminant Analysis (or LDA) and K Nearest Neighbors (or KNN). We have put together a Supplemental Learning Assessment Quick Reference Guide to help teachers address questions regarding the assessment process moving forward.

We have included many of the RPT guidelines as well as some of our own details to help clarify questions that may arise.

We have also included a research based article from the Canadian Assessment for Learning Network (CAfLN) that really explains assessment practices in a clear and concise way. The CAfLN document aligns very nicely with our Pre-K to 9 guidelines. We have had clearer responses to the 10-12 assessment questions from the RPT however, they do align fairly well with the philosophy behind the CAfLN document (different wording, etc.).

These supplemental learning packages were designed to help address gaps in prerequisite knowledge resulting from school closures due to the 2020 pandemic. There are two different types of package. The Videos and Notes package includes the notes that we provide for each lesson. For each lesson, there is a QR code and link to the video playlist with lessons and examples. The Videos and Questions package allows for minimal printing. Each page in the package covers a single topic, and features a QR code and link to the video playlist. A selection of practice questions are included on the page. An answer key is included at the end of the package. You may wish to use both packages, as the only duplication is in the link and QR code.
