Talking to Kids about COVID-19
Conditional Remix & Share Permitted

Many parents and teachers are wondering what to say to kids during these extraordinary times. We don’t want to scare kids, but we must be truthful and find ways to talk to them honestly and hopefully about COVID-19.

Dr Phil McRae of the Alberta Teachers’ Association invited his friend and colleague, Dr Michael Rich—Pediatrician at Boston Children’s Hospital and Professor at Harvard Medical School and School of Public Health—to discuss how parents and teachers can get through this together with our kids.

The resulting interactive PDF and online resource provide suggestions on what might be said to children and youth during the pandemic, what can be done to support our public health care system, and how we will get through this together.

Pow-wow to the First Nations people of Saskatchewan is a way of life and a symbol of cultural survival. There are more Pow-wows here in Saskatchewan on an annual basis than any other province or state in North America. Saskatchewan Pow-wows can be labeled as the best in North America as the dancers and drum groups are proven champions throughout North America. This dance form is traced to the Omaha and Pawnee people of the southern United States and came north through the Dakota people.

This site gives background knowledge on the history of Pow-wows and describes contemporary Pow-wows. It outlines different dance styles and regalia.

Tea, Taxes, and The American Revolution: Crash Course World History #28
Rating
0.0 stars

In which John Green teaches you about the American Revolution and the American Revolutionary War, which it turns out were two different things. John goes over the issues and events that precipitated rebellion in Britain's American colonies, and he also explores the ideas that laid the groundwork for the new American democracy. Find out how the tax bill from the Seven Years War fomented an uprising, how the Enlightenment influenced the Founding Fathers, and who were the winners and losers in this conflict.(hint: many of the people living in the Colonies ended up losers) The Revolution purportedly brought freedom and equality to the Thirteen Colonies, but they weren't equally distributed. Also, you'll learn about America's love affair with commemorative ceramics and what happens when rich white guys take the reins from reins white guys, and put together a society of, by, and for rich white guys.
