Students take part in a quick open-voting process to understand why a secret ballot is important. Then they take on the roles of political party members or election officers. They run an election on a community or school issue they care about. Students vote for a candidate, ballots are counted and a winner is announced. As students learn what goes into powering a province, it is hoped that they will also begin a journey of discovering the value of electricity in their lives and the role they can play to use less of it. This resource was developed to provide teachers with the most up‐to‐date information on electricity in Saskatchewan. As the electrical industry is constantly evolving and regulations and innovations influence new directions, it's important that teachers have current information to share with students.
