Give a 5 question mixed review quiz to students every Friday.The questions can focus on current learning, but should also include questions from the entire year (especially concepts needed for next week's lessons, or foundational items that need to be mastered). This strategy will help develop mastery, provide opportunities for mixed practice to ensure comprehension beyond specific learning content.

From Apology to Reconciliation: Residential School Survivors was developed in response to the Government of Canada’s formal apology to Aboriginal people who attended residential schools. The project was created to help Manitoba students in Grades 9 and 11 understand the history of the residential school experience, its influence on contemporary Canada, and our responsibilities as Canadian citizens.

Students will learn about the water cycle, watersheds, and specifically, the watershed that feeds Springfield, Oregon. After analyzing drought maps, reading news reports, and seeing images and videos, students will realize that drought is a real life concern. Students, as concerned citizens, will create a water collection device, at first on a small scale, and then a true to life water collection system to help re- purpose rainwater in our garden area.

Virtual Museum Challenge

Students learn to interpret objects that were made by aboriginal peoples in Canada, and learn about the history and cultures of Canada's aboriginal peoples, by researching and selecting images of objects from the Canadian Museum of database, completing the Virtual Museum Challenge worksheet, and making a presentation of artifacts selected for an imaginary exhibition.
