"With its reliable news in 10-minute video segments, CNN 10 allows teachers to keep students abreast of current events without overwhelming them with extra information or commentary. CNN 10 can be used as a starting point for a variety of activities. For instance, post a discussion question of the day related to a news topic and ask students to talk in small groups about how the story affects them. Ask students to choose a story of interest and probe into it for more depth. Flip the classroom by having students watch selected videos at home, and facilitate related projects in class. Promote collaboration and creativity by having students create their own news broadcasts related to curricular goals. Finally, promote media literacy by having students compare CNN's coverage with other media coverage of the same stories.
CNN 10 offers limited supports for classroom use: broadcast transcripts and downloadable weekly quiz questions, all targeted to the topics. But students can go to the top of the screen to get to more adult articles and topics, so beware. Still, that shouldn't deter kids who want to use the site independently or parents who want to help their kids learn what's going on in the world; the materials are user-friendly enough for everyone." Learn more about the history of reguees in Canada. It is not as easy to define “refugee” as one might expect. In its simplest meaning, a refugee is a person who flees his or her home country because of fears of persecution or abuse, particularly by their own government. However, the meaning is affected by political change, public perception and history. According to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, refugees are people who have been forced to leave their country and who are afraid to return because of war, violence or persecution based on race, religion, nationality, political opinion or membership in a particular social group.

The seminal Canada at War documentary film series was first broadcast on the CBC on April 3, 1962. Its 13 half-hour episodes were culled from more than 14,000,000 feet of film, mostly shot by Canadian Army cameramen during the Second World War but also including footage shot by German and British film crews. It took a team of editors three years to put the series together under the supervision of documentary filmmaker extraordinaire Donald Britain (who also wrote the commentary). It remains, to this day, one of the most important works on the Second World War.

In an average year, Canada mourns the loss of over 100 adults and children due to agricultural fatalities. Canada’s agricultural sector is one of the most hazardous industries in which to work. Producer groups, non-profits, government bodies, industry and researchers formed what is now the Canadian Agricultural Safety Association (CASA) in 1993 to respond to issues of health and safety in agriculture. As a national, non-profit organization, CASA promotes farm safety in the agricultural sector. CASA works with partners in government, business, and farming organizations across the country to support initiatives that equip producers, their families and their workers with the information and tools needed to make farms a safe place to live, work and play. CASA is governed by a seven-person Board of Directors drawn from a membership base that includes individuals, organizations, governments and businesses.
