A Document Type Definition (DTD) defines the structure and the legal elements and attributes of an XML document.
A DTD can be declared inside an XML document or in an external file.
This choice board can be used for the students "that are always done everything" either at home or at school.
You can set your own expectations about how many students will complete along with them, but I'd suggest starting with just one and see how it goes.
