Education Week takes place from October 17 to 23, 2021.  The theme this year is "Learning for the Future".  The following collection has been put together to support you in taking a risk and trying something new with your students during this exciting week!  This week you could take an adventure with a Flipgrid Live Event, attend one of our coach's Lunch & Learn Sessions, and take a leap and try something your students may have never done before.  Start by examining the first resource, "1. Bookopolis is a social network for kids that lets them log books and connect with other readers gr 1-8+. By creating an account, students create a virtual bookshelf and join a community of young readers who can discover new books, share book reviews and track their reading with a digital reading log. The site offers book recommendations ("Bookopolis Picks" and "What's Popular Right Now"), the opportunity to explore book reviews by other young readers, a featured book of the week, the opportunity to earn points and badges, plus the option to find books by grade (1-3, 3-6, 6-8, 8-12). You can sign in as an educator, a student or a parent. Choose the online version or download the app from your app store.

We’ve seen and discussed the ways in which the rapid pace of technological change has affected the media literacy landscape, and it’s clear that change isn’t slowing down. How will those changes affect the future of media literacy? How can we make the skills we’ve discussed over this course transferable to future media & technology?

The gamification options look really good within this tool. You (or your students) can make a variety of different games to test content.

There are some great product choices in here to demonstrate learning.

This is a great site to help you find a book you'll love. If you sign up you can enter books you've enjoyed and it will make suggestions for you! Remember to check out Sora to see if you can find a copy of the book there if you are a Sun West student or teacher!

Kahoot! is a game-based platform that makes learning awesome for millions of people all over the world. Sign up to create and play fun quiz games!

Having students make quizzes on Kahoot! is a great way for them to extend their learning and benefit the entire class!

Kahoot! is an excellent formative assessment tool. You can give feedback to your students after each question as you play. Make learning a game show...your students will never have so much fun being assessed.

Simulations can be sorted by subject area or grade. This is very helpful.

PhET is a collection of interactive computer simulations for teaching and learning physics, chemistry, math, and other sciences.

Simulations can be used directly on the site or downloaded and used that way.

The simulations are animated, interactive, and game-like environments where students learn through exploration. They emphasize the connections between real-life and the underlying science. These great activities help students visualize abstract concepts!

This program is built by teachers to provide resources and activities that connect directly to 42 modules in Saskatchewan’s Financial Literacy 20, 30 curriculum. Free middle years and secondary level content can be accessed on the site, and educators can inquire about professional development opportunities."

This site has 12 social media-inspired Google Slides templates to create mock versions of social media sites.

There is a paid and a free version of this tool. Teachers can sign up for free.

There are several options of pre-made lessons on this site (some are free and some cost money.) But you can also make your OWN. You can use existing PowerPoints to make presentations or lessons and add in video, quizzes, surveys, polls, etc. Kids can even draw their answers to questions.
