Jamboard is a free Google tool that creates whiteboards that are a lot like slides. You don't need an interactive whiteboard to use it. You can use the app for free on any device! It works with Google Drive and allows you to present your whiteboard to people viewing remotely. Which makes it a great online whiteboard option for distance learning.

Lunar Rover Research Challenge Gr. 6-9

Do you want your class to be part of Canada’s Space program?

With the Lunar Rover Research Challenge, students could control a Canadensys rover in a mock-lunar environment by winning this low-prep, high-impact competition. Canadensys recently received a contract from the Canadian Space Agency to send a rover to the moon as early as 2026.

You can do the project in 3-4 hours for a classroom experience or 6+ hours to compete.

Quill.org is an online interactive writing and grammar website which offers personalized grammar lessons for 1-12 students, as well as EAL students. Quill.org is a free resource with a premium option. The benefits of this website are that you can offer your students personalized lessons based on their diagnostic results and it scores the assignments for you so you can use that as formative feedback to assign new activity packs. Teachers are able to see their entire class at a glance for each assignment and adding and removing students is very easy. It offers co teaching options and Quill.org also has fully prepared lesson plans which you can use for a whole class grammar lesson.

*Teachers can download explicit lesson plans to teach their entire class or small groups as well.

Quill now has a proofreader that teaches editing skills by having them proofread passages!

Weaving Indigenous Education into Your Practice: A Teacher’s Resource Guide

The First Nations University, Indigenous Continuing Education Centre (ICEC), is proud to offer an exclusive tutorial introducing the National Centre for Collaboration in Indigenous Education (NCCIE) website and its on-line Teaching Resource Centre for Indigenous and non-Indigenous educators. The Teaching Resource Centre is an invaluable tool for all educators. The lesson plans are searchable by subject and grade. Each lesson plan comes complete with learning outcomes, a teacher’s guide,
activities, assessment guidelines, and materials. Lesson plans and videos were co-developed with community partners across Canada in the spirit of reciprocity – to contribute to the growing educational resources that highlight Indigenous perspectives.

The tutorial is designed to highlight the educational videos, stories, and lessons available on the NCCIE website and support learners and educators in their journey of knowing and understanding Indigenous education.

The tutorial will:
• Describe where to locate useful educational resources (e.g., videos, stories, and lessons) on the NCCIE website.
• Identify resources that may be useful in your educational journey or in your teaching practice.
• Examine and implement a variety of website resources into your courses and contexts.
• Assess the support you may need to deliver website content.
• Design a plan for implementing resources from the NCCIE website.
