An interactive applet and associated web page that demonstrate the corresponding angles that are formed where a transversal crosses two lines. The applets cycles through the four possible pairs of angles when in animation mode. By dragging the three lines, it can be seen that the angle pairs are congruent only when the lines are parallel. When not in animated mode, there is a button that cycles through each the four pairs of angles. The text on the page discusses the properties of the pairs of corresponding angles both in the parallel and non-parallel cases. "The Countdown Passages are strictly controlled stories that align with the phonics skills and Heart Words taught in Countdown. Aside from the
Heart Words in the passages, all of the words included are decodable according to the Countdown Scope & Sequence; however, due to the use
of some Heart Words that have not been explicitly taught in Countdown according to the guidelines described below, we consider the passages
to be “strictly controlled” rather than completely “decodable."

There are 12 fiction passages: one for each unit in Countdown, beginning with Unit 17. The passages provide students with longer, connected-text
opportunities to apply the skills they are learning in Countdown. In the Countdown workbook, students practice reading words, phrases, and
sentences. With the Countdown Passages, students extend their practice to longer sections of text. As students develop mastery and automaticity
with the skills taught in Countdown, the Countdown Passages can be used to reinforce these skills, to provide opportunities for practice, and,
ideally, to build fluency. Students will also gain confidence as readers. Reading text controlled for the specific skills students have already
learned allows them to read with success, leading to confidence and the willingness to tackle more difficult text in the future."

Law enforcement has relied on fingerprint analysis to identify suspects and solve crimes for more than 100 years. Investigators use fingerprints to link a perpetrator to a crime scene. Individual fingerprint identification records have also been used in sentencing, probation, and parole decisions. Officers often rely on chemical techniques, such as those above, to visualize the evidence. However, inadequate proficiency testing of investigators has led to inaccurate interpretations of the evidence. Recent wrongful convictions and scientific studies of forensic methods have increased scrutiny of the validity and reliability of several forms of forensic evidence, including fingerprints. A recent report prepared by the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST) makes strong recommendations for improving the scientific basis of forensic evidence used in the courtroom. For fingerprinting, the report emphasized the potential for automating fingerprint analysis, to potentially reduce bias in interpreting match results when fingerprints at a scene are smudged or otherwise unclear.

What is criminal profiling?
Criminal profiling is an important part of a criminal psychology. This part of an article will partially answer questions about what criminal profiling is, what it is used for, what is aim of it, in which cases it is mostly used, what are it’s types and what kind of approaches it has.

In short, Criminal profiling (also known as offender profiling and specific profile analysis) is to create a psychological and not only psychological portrait, determine location of the offenders by gathering their personal attributes from crime scene behavior in order to assist in detection of them.
Criminal profiling is typically used when offender’s identity is unknown and with serious criminal offences such as murder, sexual assault. Profilers also work on crime series, where is considered, that the crime is committed by the same offender.

Research has shown that some younger students have difficulty visualizing the parts of a 3D object that are hidden. To help with this, the student can rotate the cube in any axis simply by dragging it with the mouse. It can also be 'exploded' - where a slider gradually separates the faces to reveal the ones behind. The cube can also be made translucent so you see through it to the other side. Specifically, it is designed to foster an intuitive understanding of the effects of changing the 4 coefficients in the function. Sushi, anime, Hello Kitty Đ these are a few of the most well-known products that have become symbolic of Japan. However, sushi is a delicacy and therefore not something that most Japanese eat daily, the popularity of anime varies across the country, and not everyone is a zealous Hello Kitty fan. The purpose of these activities, then, is to go beyond the stereotypes often associated with these popular products and examine aspects of Japanese culture that reveal fundamental values in Japanese society. Specifically, the primary sources chosen here all reflect careful attention to detail and presentation as well as efficient, thoughtful, and creative use of limited time and space. The classroom activities that go along with the primary sources have been designed to help young students recognize similarities and differences between Japanese culture and their own.
