Elections Canada's Civic Education
Rating
0.0 stars

This activity is designed for a social studies, politics, civics or citizenship class. It can be used in secondary and elementary classrooms. Here is an overview of the simulation:

Students take part in a quick open-voting process to understand why a secret ballot is important.
Then they take on the roles of political party members or election officers. They run an election on a community or school issue they care about.
Students vote for a candidate, ballots are counted and a winner is announced.
Finally, students reflect on what they learned about their role in the simulation and what makes elections fair.
This simulation is based on the procedures used for Canadian federal elections. The tools and information in the kit are as authentic as possible while still being classroom-friendly.

Electricity in Saskatchewan - An Educational Resource for Grade 6 Science
Rating
0.0 stars

This resource provides ways for students to inquire and explore a variety of topics when it comes to producing power, delivering it, conserving it and the ethical, social and environmental considerations that go along with it. As students learn what goes into powering a province, it is hoped that they will also begin a journey of discovering the value of electricity in their lives and the role they can play to use less of it.
This resource was developed to provide teachers with the most up‐to‐date information on electricity in Saskatchewan. As the electrical industry is constantly evolving and regulations and innovations influence new directions, it's important that teachers have current information to share with students.
As much as possible, teachers are forwarded to the SaskPower website as that will have the most current content. Student handouts will be updated annually, but if there is a discrepancy between the printed copy and the website, please defer to the content on saskpower.com.
This resource was developed by SaskPower with input from educators who provided valuable ideas, feedback and expertise.

Emotions: Psychological Writings of Mark Pettinelli
Unrestricted Use
CC BY
Rating
0.0 stars

This book (The Psychology of Emotions, Feelings and Thoughts) puts forth the idea that life is divided into three groups, emotion, thinking, and feeling. These three groups make humans feel in certain ways, thinking, physical stimulus, and emotion all contribute to feeling. But what is the difference between a thought, an emotion, and a feeling? Is there an overlap between the three? Probably, since any emotion can be broken down into the sensations and real events that caused it, and these events all lead to emotions, feelings and thoughts. So emotions, feelings and thoughts all might have the same source, they are just expressed differently in the mind. Where do your emotions, feelings and thoughts rate on a scale of clarity? Where do they rate on a scale of focus and attention? How does understanding the psychology of ones emotions, feelings and thoughts lead to a long term increased consciousness?

The End of Civilization (In the Bronze Age): Crash Course World History 211
Rating
0.0 stars

In which John Green teaches you about the Bronze Age civilization in what we today call the middle east, and how the vast, interconnected civilization that encompassed Egypt, The Levant, and Mesopotamia came to an end. What's that you say? There was no such civilization? Your word against ours. John will argue that through a complex network of trade and alliances, there was a loosely confederated and relatively continuous civilization in the region. Why it all fell apart was a mystery. Was it the invasion of the Sea People? An earthquake storm? Or just a general collapse, to which complex systems are prone? We'll look into a few of these possibilities. As usual with Crash Course, we may not come up with a definitive answer, but it sure is a lot of fun to think about.
