Kids' Games, Animals, Photos, Stories, and More -- National Geographic Kids

This is a great resource for students to research animals and play games related to animal studies.

"While National Geographic Kids isn't well-organized for teachers, it is a fantastic resource for students to explore their interests and follow their curiosity. The site would be a great way to introduce the diversity of life on Earth: Encourage students to learn about new animals, watch the science and geography series, and explore the interactive world map. The Homework Help section can provide additional information for light research papers or projects. Teachers can search, themselves, for resources that match topics they're working on in the classroom.

Teachers of younger students will find this easy-to-use educational tool a great way to increase engagement and add extension activities for science and social studies lessons. Note: Though the site content is free, there are abundant links to subscribe to the National Geographic Kids and National Geographic Little Kids magazines." (Common Sense Media Review)

Most American students' exposure to the Korean Peninsula begins and ends with the teaching of the Korean War and division along the 38th parallel. The sources and activities here aim to take students beyond the Korean War to explore the divergent stories of North and South Korea and to analyze the causes and effects of each country's unique development. The activities introduce learners to the long-lasting economic and political effects of Korea's division by examining South Korea's rapid industrialization, North Korea's continuing struggle to ensure adequate food for its population, and the arguments for and against reunification of the Korean Peninsula. Working with a photo of a South Korean labor strike, graphs depicting the devastating effects of food shortages in North Korea, and a song calling for reunification, students will gain a better understanding of the peninsula's varied history as well as a greater appreciation for the lived experiences of North and South Koreans at home and abroad.

Kurzgesagt – In a Nutshell (Videos with Optimistic Nihilism)
Rating
0.0 stars

Animation videos explaining things with optimistic nihilism.

They do take a unique approach to some topics so I strongly suggest you preview videos yourself before using them with students. E.g., Smoking is Awesome (this goes through why it makes us feel so good before fully explaining the havoc it puts bodies through!)

There is a lot to ponder and learn from this site!

These videos would be great to use for debate.
