Everyone is on a learning journey. While exploring historical and contemporary Métis ways of knowing and doing, these learning packages provide knowledge and understanding for students and teachers. Topics include: Traditional Harvesting Methods, Geographical Terms, Music and Dance, Conversational Michif, Beading, and Traditional Foods. The lesson plans and videos highlight Knowledge Keepers walking in the tall prairie grass, Elders preparing la galette (bannock), students learning Michif numbers, and family greeting each other for tea. We hope these resources will assist you in your learning.
Each year, Canada’s National Ballet School commissions a Canadian artist to create a piece of choreography that embodies a thoughtful theme.
Step-by-step instructional videos guide you through the choreography—whether you want to invest in learning and performing the full piece, or are exploring just a small portion of the material.
The choreography builds towards NBS Sharing Dance Day, a nationwide dance party bringing together tens of thousands of people in communities across the country. NBS Sharing Dance started as a flashmob in Toronto in 2010 and has grown over the years into an incredible celebration of the joy, creativity and community of dance from coast-to-coast-to-coast.
The dance day can be extended by a teacher to include additional arts ed. outcomes (CR6.2, CH6.1, for example)

Students will observe a holiday depicted in a picture from a 16th-century manuscript. They will interview family members and write a paragraph about a family tradition. After a class discussion on how an artist creates the illusion of depth, students will create a collage illustrating a family tradition with a distinct foreground, middle ground, and background.
Through a partnership with Google Arts & Culture, an online exhibit shows the history of The Nutcracker ballet in numerous slides and photos, including a video explaining how a dancing horse costume is brought to life onstage.
Many other Canadian museums and galleries that lack interactive online exhibits still have photos from their collections available online for hours of perusing, such as the National Gallery of Canada and Gardiner Museum.
Google Arts & Culture also has partnered with hundreds of museums across the world to allow extra exhibits and gallery walkthrough online. Their top 10 list of museums that can be explored digitally includes numerous cultural wonders, such as the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, Musee d’Orsay in Paris, the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Seoul, and the Pergamon Museum in Berlin.

Students will brainstorm a list of adjectives to describe two early photographs called "cyanotypes." Next they will create their own cyanotype photograph. Students will then write original poetry using the previous list of adjectives to describe their own nature-inspired cyanotype photograph.
This activity is "based on painted houses in South Africa created by the Ndebele tribe." The designs on the houses are painted by women in the tribe and usually feature geometric shapes, bright colors, and symmetrical designs.
This art history video discussion looks at the Human-headed Winged Lion and Bull (Lamassu), 883--859 B.C.E., Neo-Assyrian period, reign of Ashurnasirpal II, excavated at Nimrud (ancient Kalhu), northern Mesopotamia (Metropolitan Museum of Art).
Students study how artists of the Neoclassical period were influenced by major historical events during the Enlightenment. They will identify and analyze the Neoclassical style.
