This new website from Agriculture in the Classroom is a kid-friendly, engaging website that will bring the story of agriculture to life through highly interactive information, colourful illustrations, real-life photos, informative text, quizzes, teacher lessons and more! Students will discover the Past, Present, Evolution and Future of agriculture in Saskatchewan.

This is a collection of tools to assess the effectiveness of family engagement in a school's learning community.

Take a trip to a Canadian farm to learn about different kinds of farming and food production with these 360 informational videos of many aspects of farm life.

A lesson using Farm 360 Virtual Tour and linking it to Science and Careers. The students will move around a 360 video to experience life on a farm or orchard. It outlines production and importance of the industry. There is an ELA writing component at the end of the lesson to be handed in.  

Join spoken word poet Janelle “ecoaborijanelle” Pewapsconias. Using flow poetry, you and your students will explore our Saskatchewan watersheds and water systems as a topic of focus for poetic expression and scientific inquiry. The broadcast will include performances by the artist as well as opportunities to observe a collaborative writing process, practice induction and deduction, and assess the created piece based on the flow poetry skills developed.

*Note - this will only work for Saskatchewan teachers logged into the Ministry of Ed licensed resources.

On June 10, 2024, the Sun West School Division Grade-Alike Planning Team hosted a Share Out Day in which they presented their collaborative projects and provided links to all resources explored throughout the year. The teacher recommended resources for Grades 7, 8, and 9 are available in the GAP Hub. This participant handout contains information about each of the learning topics and includes learning outcomes and links to informative websites as recommeded by the guest presenters. 

Exploring “renewal” and “regeneration” through a holistic perspective, this project presents these concepts through the lens of sustainability. Ignition – Digital Literacy & Responsibility™ combines the power of cutting-edge instructional design, new media, and simulations to educate teens and empower them with the skill set to leverage technology safely and effectively. The four-hour curriculum, designed for students in grades 6 – 9—informs students about how technology works and provides an introduction to STEM careers. In addition to the modules, students apply their learning in virtual environments, demonstrating their mastery of issues such as privacy, security, cyberbullying, conducting online research, digital relationships, and the viral nature of the web.

It is intended to support educators in developing their understanding of inquiry-based learning, its application in the Health and Physical Education Curriculum, and the benefts it provides to students.

This guide is divided into four sections to support educators in exploring inquiry in health and physical education. Section One provides an overview of inquiry-based learning as it applies to Health and Physical Education. Section Two provides an overview of assessment in inquiry-based learning and related implementation tools. Section Three demonstrates how educators may apply an inquiry-based learning approach in Health and Physical Education, with guidelines for educators to use as they consider different components of the Inquiry Framework. Section Four provides sample inquiry plans for both elementary and secondary Health and Physical Education, including related implementation tools.

Overview: Sun West and Junior Achievement Partnership for Grade 68Career Education:

Sun West School Division partnered with Junior Achievement Saskatchewan in support of career development competencies of students through a business lens. Grade 8 Career Education Teachers will continue to deliver Junior Achievement’s Dollars with Sense (Gr. 8) program to our students.

Junior Achievement focuses on the pillars of Financial Literacy, Entrepreneurship, and Work Readiness. The programs include combinations of whole class, team, and individual activities. Junior Achievement kits were sent to schools and categorized in our libraries. The materials are very detailed containing necessary resources, student preparation portfolios, and the teacher inspiration guide. The Student Preparation Portfolio consumables have been sent to schools.

As well, Junior Achievement has updated their online portal and created both Teacher-led and Student self-directed modules. These modules can be used alongside the physical kits – lots of options! Course Access Codes for the online portal have been shared with CD LEAD Teachers and Administrators. The access codes are also included in the packages sent to schools. If any support needed,
