Science Background:
• Inside the can at room temperature (with the water inside) is at the same air pressure as the air outside the can
• Water expands to about 600 times its liquid volume when heated above its boiling point (100 degrees)
• Water expands and pushes almost all of the air outside of the can. The water vapor inside the can has the same pressure as the air outside the can
• Hot water vapor condenses into liquid water when cooled
• The volume of the condensed water is approximately 600 times less than the previous hot water vapor volume

Cryptography: Crash Course Computer Science #33
Rating
0.0 stars

Today we’re going to talk about how to keep information secret, and this isn’t a new goal. From as early as Julius Caesar’s Caesar cipher to Mary, Queen of Scots, encrypted messages to kill Queen Elizabeth in 1587, theres has long been a need to encrypt and decrypt private correspondence. This proved especially critical during World War II as Allan Turing and his team at Bletchley Park attempted to decrypt messages from Nazi Enigma machines, and this need has only grown as more and more information sensitive tasks are completed on our computers. So today, we’re going to walk you through some common encryption techniques such as the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES), Diffie-Hellman Key Exchange, and RSA which are employed to keep your information safe, private, and secure.

Developed for third grade. Students observe a crystal growth process.Biology In Elementary Schools is a Saint Michael's College student project. The teaching ideas on this page have been found, refined, and developed by students in a college-level course on the teaching of biology at the elementary level. Unless otherwise noted, the lesson plans have been tried at least once by students from our partner schools. This wiki has been established to share ideas about teaching biology in elementary schools. The motivation behind the creation of this page is twofold: 1. to provide an outlet for the teaching ideas of a group of college educators participating in a workshop-style course; 2. to provide a space where anyone else interested in this topic can place their ideas.

Créer des constellations (Subitizer)
Rating
0.0 stars

Cube definition and properties
Read the Fine Print
Rating
0.0 stars

An interactive applet and associated web page that demonstrate the properties of a cube. A 3-D cube is shown in the applet which can be interactively manipulated using the mouse. Research has shown that some younger students have difficulty visualizing the parts of a 3D object that are hidden. To help with this, the student can rotate the cube in any axis simply by dragging it with the mouse. It can also be 'exploded' - where a slider gradually separates the faces to reveal the ones behind. The cube can also be made translucent so you see through it to the other side. Applet can be enlarged to full screen size for use with a classroom projector, and printed to make handouts. This resource is a component of the Math Open Reference Interactive Geometry textbook project at http://www.mathopenref.com.

An interactive applet that allows the user to graphically explore the properties of a cubic equation. Specifically, it is designed to foster an intuitive understanding of the effects of changing the 4 coefficients in the function. The applet shows a large graph of a quadratic (ax^3 + bx^2 +cx + d) and has four slider controls, one each for the coefficients a,b,c and d. As the sliders are moved, the graph is redrawn in real time illustrating the effects of these variations. Applet can be enlarged to full screen size for use with a classroom projector. Culinary Saskatchewan | Farm to Table Dining with Odla and Farm One Forty
Rating
0.0 stars

Arlie LaRoche was born and raised on a Saskatchewan farm. When Arlie moved to the city, she realized that she had taken for granted that she knew where her food came from. She saw that not everyone had that same connection to their food. She was inspired to be that connection for people along with her husband, Brett. Together they started Farm One Forty, a holistic, regenerative vegetable and livestock farm just outside of Saskatoon.

After hosting some dinner events on their farm they came up with the idea of opening a restaurant in Saskatoon. Arlie and Brett partnered with co-owners Lacey Sellinger (general manager and sommelier) and Scott Dicks (chef) to make this a reality. Located right in the heart of the Broadway District in Saskatoon, Odla, which means to farm, cultivate and grow in Swedish, focuses on crafting their menu around Saskatchewan-seasonal ingredients. The restaurant gets livestock from Farm One Forty and some vegetables but also sources ingredients from other farmers in the region. The menu changes as the seasons do and is inspired by what comes in each week or what has been preserved from harvest.

Cultural Snapshots of Daily Life in Japan for Elementary Students

Sushi, anime, Hello Kitty Đ these are a few of the most well-known products that have become symbolic of Japan. However, sushi is a delicacy and therefore not something that most Japanese eat daily, the popularity of anime varies across the country, and not everyone is a zealous Hello Kitty fan. The purpose of these activities, then, is to go beyond the stereotypes often associated with these popular products and examine aspects of Japanese culture that reveal fundamental values in Japanese society. Specifically, the primary sources chosen here all reflect careful attention to detail and presentation as well as efficient, thoughtful, and creative use of limited time and space. The classroom activities that go along with the primary sources have been designed to help young students recognize similarities and differences between Japanese culture and their own.
